Description: A classic kovil prasadam made from rice, moong dal, jaggery, and ghee. Sweet, aromatic, and served during Pongal and temple offerings.
Ingredients
- Raw rice — 1 cup
 - Moong dal — ¼ cup
 - Jaggery — 1 cup
 - Ghee — 4 tbsp
 - Cashews — 10–12
 - Raisins — 12–15
 - Cardamom powder — ½ tsp
 - Pinch of salt
 
Steps
- Rinse rice and moong dal together 2–3 times.
 - Add 3 cups water and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
 - Melt jaggery with ½ cup water, strain impurities.
 - Mix jaggery syrup with cooked rice–dal mixture. Stir on low flame for 5 mins.
 - Roast cashews and raisins in ghee, add to pongal.
 - Finish with cardamom powder. Serve warm.
