Kanda Shashti Viratham from Saturday 02/11/2024 to Thursday 07/11/2024 Shanmughan darshan at Sashti Kanda Shashti Vratam starts on the first day after the new moon of Diwali and continues for six days.

Those who worship Murugan as family deity or istha deity and others observe this fast in the hope of wealth, prosperity and good birth. On these six days, Shaivites wake up early in the morning from their fast, bathe in Purana Kumbha, light lamps and worship.
Another story called Gandhapurana has three characters named Surapatman, Singhamukhan and Tarakasura. These characters represent bad traits like pride, arrogance and vanity.
