Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple is one of the most popular temples in South India. The temple is located in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. Goddess Meenakshi is an embodiment of Parvati, depicted in a green-bodied form.

Architecture
One of the significant features of the temple is its magnificent architecture. It is constructed in the form of concentric walled enclosures, pillared mandapams, and elaborate shrines. The temple has 14 towers, with the southern tower being the tallest at 170 feet.
An impressive hall with 985 intricately carved pillars showcases artistic genius and also houses a museum.
Photography is prohibited inside the temple premises and during special rituals.
